Romania scrambled fighter jets on Thursday after a drone violated its national airspace during a Russian attack on Ukrainian infrastructure near the border, the Ministry of Defense announced. According to Reuters, this marks the second airspace violation in two days.

Romania, a member of the European Union and NATO, shares a 650-kilometer land border with Ukraine.

Since Russia began targeting Ukrainian ports along the Danube River, Russian drones have repeatedly entered Romanian airspace. In some cases, drone debris has fallen on Romanian territory, heightening security concerns in the region.
