North Macedonian Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski presented a Macedonian flag to Albanian MP Riad Shaqiri after noting that the lawmaker was wearing only the Albanian flag on his suit.

During the parliamentary question session, MP Shaqiri responded to the Prime Minister by stating that the small Albanian flag was a gift from Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama and that he would also wear the Macedonian flag if it were given to him by Mickoski.

“I hope that next time you come to work at the Assembly of North Macedonia, alongside the Albanian flag of the ethnicity to which you belong, you will also wear the Macedonian one, since you receive your salary from this state and from these citizens,” Mickoski said.

MP Shaqiri replied that he is proud to be Albanian and would wear the Macedonian flag if the Prime Minister personally presented it to him.

“It is a fact that I have my national symbol and I am proud to be Albanian. This was given to me by the Prime Minister of Albania. When you bring me the flag of North Macedonia, at the next session I will come to the podium wearing it as well,” Shaqiri said, after which he also placed the Macedonian flag on his suit.
