Melania Trump is poised to make history as the first First Lady of the United States to preside over a session of the United Nations Security Council, where she is expected to deliver a speech focused on peace through education. The United States will assume the presidency of the UN Security Council on Monday.

Her address will mark the first time a First Lady from any country—and the first sitting U.S. First Lady—has led a Security Council session, as members examine issues related to education, technology, peace, and security.

According to a source close to the First Lady who spoke to Fox News, she is expected to emphasize the importance of education and knowledge in building lasting and sustainable peace.

“The First Lady is redefining her role, and this marks another extraordinary achievement for her,” the source said. “It is the first time in history that a First Lady will address the Security Council, advancing her mission of empowering the next generation through education and technology.”

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Michael Waltz, stated that it is “fitting that the First Lady, a passionate and tireless advocate for children, will preside over the first day of the American presidency of the Security Council.”
