The Kosovo Police (KP) has clarified that recent reports, primarily published in Serbian media, claiming that masked Albanian individuals set up roadblocks and opened fire on Serbian police in the Madljika area, do not correspond with official data.

According to KP, all information has been verified through institutional mechanisms, and no such incident has been identified on the territory of Kosovo. KFOR has also been informed of the actions taken, and joint patrols in the border area continue as usual.

Full Statement from the Kosovo Police

The Kosovo Police stated that several pieces of misinformation have been circulated, mainly in Serbian media outlets, alleging that masked Albanian individuals blocked roads and fired ten bullets at Serbian police in the Madljika area — referred to by Serbian sources as part of the Ground Safety Zone in southern Serbia.

The institution emphasized that it has undertaken all necessary police measures and verification procedures and found no official evidence or data indicating that such an incident occurred within the border belt of that area.

KP noted that the latest report resembles a previous claim from February 7, 2026, which alleged that on February 5, 2026, around 4:00 p.m., more than 100 automatic gunshots were fired at Serbian police in the village of Parada, Kuršumlija municipality, in Serbia. According to those reports, the suspects allegedly fled toward the territory of the Republic of Kosovo.

Both reports refer to the same geographic area, near the village of Reqicë on the territory of Kosovo.

So far, based on all available sources, there has been no confirmation that such incidents occurred either on the reported date or in the most recent case. KFOR has been informed of all actions undertaken.

The Kosovo Police reaffirmed that it maintains close cooperation with all security institutions, including KFOR, with whom it conducts joint patrols along the border belt.

KP reiterated its commitment to ensuring security, safeguarding constitutional order, and providing citizens and media with official information in order to prevent disinformation and the spread of false reports.
