On February 28, 2026, European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs Kaja Kallas described the latest escalations in the Middle East — including U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran and Tehran’s retaliatory attacks — as “dangerous”.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Kallas stated that the EU is coordinating with Arab partners to seek diplomatic solutions.

“The protection of civilians and adherence to international humanitarian law remain a priority,” she emphasized.

She also noted that the EU’s consular network is fully engaged to assist in the safe evacuation of EU citizens, and that non-essential EU personnel are being withdrawn from the region.
