In the early hours of March 1, 2026, a police operation codenamed “Syrigana” was carried out, resulting in the arrest of five individuals suspected of war crimes against the civilian population.
The operation was conducted by the War Crimes Investigation Directorate of the Kosovo Police, in close coordination with the Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo and with the support of the Special Operational Unit.
According to reliable sources close to the investigation, the case is linked to the killing of six Albanian civilians in the village of Syriganë, Municipality of Skenderaj, during the period May–June 1998.
Those arrested are: Ratko Kraković, Goran Tomašević, Siniša Tomašević, Predrag Tomašević, and Nebojša Tomašević.
The arrests were carried out at six separate locations—five in Skenderaj and one in North Mitrovica—after search warrants were issued by the Pre-Trial Judge of the Basic Court in Pristina – Special Department.
During the searches, weapons and various equipment were confiscated and will undergo forensic examination as part of the ongoing investigation.
The suspects have been taken in for questioning, and the Special Prosecution is expected to request pre-trial detention on suspicion of involvement in war crimes against the civilian population.
Investigations are ongoing, and further arrests or actions in the coming days have not been ruled out.
