Today in Gjakova, Myrteza Dylhasi was reburied with honors, nearly 27 years after he disappeared on March 27, 1999, during the Kosovo War.
According to the Kosovo Government Commission on Missing Persons, Dylhasi had remained on the List of Missing Persons for 27 years. He was part of a group of 11 civilians abducted and disappeared by Serbian forces in a case widely known as the “Qerkezi Family House case.”
His mortal remains were discovered in locations along the flow of the White Drin River. Following forensic examinations, continuous expert engagement, and DNA analysis, authorities were able to confirm his identity and return him to his family for a dignified reburial.
From the same group of abducted civilians, six people remain missing. Meanwhile, the Dylhasi family is still awaiting clarification about the fate of Skender Dylhasi, Myrteza’s father.
“This case proves that the search process continues and that the commitment of the Government Commission on Missing Persons remains unwavering until the fate of every missing person is clarified,” the Commission stated, expressing deep condolences to the Dylhasi family and respect for their 27-year perseverance in seeking the truth.
