From €951 Million to Nearly €4 Billion: How Kosovo’s Service Exports Grew

Kosovo’s service exports have experienced steady growth over the past decade, reaching their highest level in 2025, according to data presented by GAP Institute.

The figures show that sectors such as travel services and information technology have been the main drivers behind this expansion.

Growth over the years

Data starting from 2015 shows a strong upward trend in service exports:

  • 2015: €951.5 million
  • 2019: €1.7 billion
  • 2020: about €1.0 billion (a decline mainly due to the impact of the COVID-19 and reduced travel)
  • 2021: €1.9 billion
  • 2022: €2.5 billion
  • 2023: €3.0 billion
  • 2024: €3.4 billion
  • 2025: about €3.9 billion

Main sectors in 2025

According to the data, service exports in 2025 were dominated by several key sectors:

Travel services
These include services provided to non-residents during their stay in Kosovo, reaching €2.8 billion, an increase of 16% compared to 2024.

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) services
This category includes voice and data services through phone networks, cable and satellite transmissions, electronic communication platforms, as well as software development and maintenance services. The sector reached €398.2 million, up 14% compared to 2024.

Other business services
These include research and development, professional consulting, management services, and technical services, totaling €272.5 million, marking a 4% increase from the previous year.

Transport services
Covering passenger and freight transportation and related support services, this sector recorded €191.3 million, representing the largest growth rate at 30%.

The data highlights the growing role of services in Kosovo’s economy, particularly tourism-related activities and the rapidly expanding ICT sector.
