The governments of Germany and Switzerland have confirmed the temporary closure of their embassies in Tehran due to escalating security concerns.

The Swiss ambassador and five staff members left Iran today via land routes and are now safely outside the country. Similarly, Germany has temporarily relocated its mission in Tehran, along with its two missions in Iraq.

These actions add Germany and Switzerland to a growing list of countries that have evacuated staff or closed embassies over safety fears, including Argentina, Austria, Azerbaijan, Iceland, Italy, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Spain, the United Kingdom, and Ukraine.

The measures come in the wake of the early days of the U.S.-Israel offensive in Iran, when many primarily Western countries called for the removal of diplomatic personnel due to security threats.
