Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has insisted that Tehran has not requested a ceasefire or negotiations with Washington, stating that the country will continue to defend itself amid the ongoing conflict with the United States.
In comments to CBS News, Araghchi said: “No, we never asked for a ceasefire and we have never requested negotiations. We are ready to defend ourselves for as long as necessary. That is what we have done so far and will continue to do until President Trump reaches the point where this is seen as an illegal war with no victory. People are being killed simply because President Trump wants to be entertained. That is what he has said.”
Araghchi criticized the conduct of the U.S. administration in the conflict, describing actions such as targeting ships as “a war chosen by President Trump and the United States.”
He also rejected the idea that Iran is fighting a war for survival, saying the government is “stable and strong enough” to protect its people without entering negotiations.
