U.S. Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of Energy Chris Wright, and Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum will convene at a meeting of the American Petroleum Institute this week. The meeting is expected to focus on discussions about American oil and natural gas with national industry leaders.

“We look forward to bringing together top officials—including Vice President Vance, Secretary of the Interior Burgum, Secretary of Energy Wright, bipartisan congressional leaders, and governors—to discuss the role of American oil and natural gas in supporting reliable energy supply amid global instability,” said spokesperson Andrea Woods.

The meeting comes at a time when gas prices have continued to rise due to the conflict with Iran, while the Trump administration has been seeking to persuade other countries to help secure the Strait of Hormuz. Last night, President Donald Trump threatened a massive strike on Iran’s largest gas field following Israeli attacks on the field and retaliatory attacks by Iran against Qatar.

Vance acknowledged that higher gasoline prices are a concern but described them as a temporary obstacle that should be resolved within the coming weeks.

He also indicated that additional policy measures will be approved to help lower prices. Over the past week, gasoline prices have risen from a national average of $3.59 per gallon to $3.88 per gallon.
