The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) will hold a session in New York on Thursday, April 9, to discuss the latest report on the work of the UN Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK), according to the official UN website.

The session is scheduled to begin at 16:00 local time.

The report, prepared by the UN Secretary-General, will be presented by Peter Due, the new head of the UN mission in Kosovo, who assumed office in January 2026.

According to a copy published yesterday by Klankosova, the report covers the latest reporting period, analyzing the political and security situation in Kosovo and the wider region.

The report also notes that there has been no significant progress in the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, which continues under the guidance of the European Union.

It is expected that the Security Council session may be held behind closed doors, as is customary for discussions of this nature.

This upcoming debate is part of the UN’s ongoing efforts to monitor developments in Kosovo and the Western Balkans, while evaluating UNMIK’s role in supporting stability and institutional development.
