Kosovo’s Prime Minister Albin Kurti, who leads the Vetëvendosje Movement, is currently on a visit to London at the invitation of the British government.

This trip comes at a time when only a few days remain before the constitutional deadline set by the Constitutional Court for electing a new president.

Following the Court’s decision granting an additional 34-day extension, Kurti has only met with the leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Lumir Abdixhiku. However, no concrete developments have followed that meeting.

Meanwhile, a meeting with the leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) has not yet taken place, as the party has requested seriousness from Kurti and an official invitation addressed to its chairman Bedri Hamza. It remains to be seen whether Kurti will meet Hamza after returning from London.

According to the Constitutional Court’s ruling, the Assembly of Kosovo has until April 28 to elect a new president.

If this does not happen, the country automatically goes to new elections and the Assembly is dissolved.
