The newly elected Speaker of the Slovenian Parliament, Zoran Stevanović, has stated that his party Resni.ca supports holding a referendum on Slovenia’s withdrawal from NATO.

In an interview with RTV Slovenia, he also mentioned the possibility of a referendum on leaving the European Union.

Stevanović argued that the Slovenian people would not support leaving the EU, saying citizens benefit more from membership than they lose.

“Ljubljana should return as the main center of decision-making for Slovenia; it should not be Brussels,” he said.

He also noted that withdrawing from the World Health Organization was part of his party’s election promises, adding that they intend to fulfill all commitments, including advocating for exits from international organizations.

Stevanović, a former police officer and local councillor from Kranj, became known during the COVID-19 pandemic as a protest figure against government restrictions. His party previously failed to enter parliament in 2022 but later surpassed the electoral threshold to gain representation.
