The Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, Glauk Konjufca, has expressed deep condolences following the death of renowned academic Rexhep Qosja, describing him as “the last intellectual colossus” and calling his passing a profound loss for the Albanian nation.

In a detailed message, Konjufca said that Qosja was for more than half a century one of the most consistent voices of national consciousness, highlighting his work as a scholar, writer, professor, and critic. He emphasized Qosja’s major contribution to Albanian literature and intellectual life.

Konjufca also recalled Qosja’s public engagement during the 1980s, noting his outspoken criticism of repression against Albanians in Kosovo, as well as his support for the Kosovo Liberation Army during the period leading up to the armed conflict.

He described Qosja as a progressive, egalitarian, and deeply national figure whose work will continue to be studied and valued for generations.

“May he rest in peace,” Konjufca concluded.
