KFOR Commander Ozkan Ulutaş spoke following meetings held at NATO headquarters in Brussels, where he participated alongside ambassadors from allied countries and partners contributing to the KFOR mission. According to him, the security situation in Kosovo is currently largely calm, but remains fragile and carries the potential for renewed tensions, particularly in the north of the country.

The KFOR Commander also assessed that “there is an urgent need for a sustainable political solution.”

Furthermore, Ulutaş emphasized that “NATO continues to fully and strongly support the EU-facilitated Dialogue for the normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina.”

“Through our presence and activities, we continue to create space for political dialogue to move forward. Therefore, as I heard clearly and strongly again today, NATO continues to fully and strongly support the EU-facilitated Dialogue for the normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina. Ultimately, stability depends on the choice of all parties to pursue diplomacy instead of violence. The path to sustainable peace is political. It is not military. KFOR will continue to contribute in support of this process. A constructive and inclusive way forward is what we must continue to pursue together, for a better future for all people living in Kosovo,” Ulutaş said.
