The Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade (MINT) has imposed 18 fines on KEDS, totaling €90,000, after identifying irregularities in electricity meters.
According to the official statement, the Central Market Surveillance Inspectorate found that 18 verified meters had exceeded their validity period.
During April 2026, authorities intensified the handling of consumer complaints related to meter deviations. An ad hoc commission established for this issue received a total of 574 documented complaints.
Field inspections led to the removal of 54 meters from seven regions across Kosovo, which were then tested in the laboratories of the Kosovo Metrology Agency. “During this period, time deviations were found in 38 of them,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, MINT announced that confirmed cases are being forwarded to KESCO, which is required to provide immediate compensation to affected consumers.
MINT also warned that inspections and penalties will continue throughout May.
“We assure citizens that during the month of May, the treatment of complaints, verification of meters, and imposition of fines will continue,” the statement added.
