The United Arab Emirates has issued a stern diplomatic warning following today’s missile and drone strikes on its territory, holding the Islamic Republic of Iran “fully responsible” for the aggression.

In a statement reported by the BBC, the UAE government characterized the attacks—which targeted the strategic oil hub of Fujairah—ia a “dangerous escalation and an unacceptable violation” of national sovereignty.

Breach of International Law

The Emirati leadership emphasized that the strikes directly violate the principles of international law and the United Nations Charter. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the nation “reserves its full and legitimate right to respond to these attacks” in a manner consistent with international legal frameworks.

The escalation has put the region on high alert, as the UAE serves as a cornerstone of global energy markets and a primary host for international maritime commerce.

Tehran Issues Informal Denial

While the UAE has pointed the finger directly at Tehran, the response from the Iranian side has remained ambiguous. Iranian state television cited an unidentified “senior military official” who claimed that “Iran had no plans to target the United Arab Emirates.”

Despite this informal denial, no high-ranking Iranian official has stepped forward to issue a formal statement or offer an explanation for the missiles that Emirati air defenses intercepted over their territorial waters.

Strategic Fallout

The incident marks a severe breakdown in regional stability, occurring just as international efforts were underway to maintain a fragile ceasefire in the Middle East. Analysts suggest that the UAE’s explicit mention of a “legitimate right to respond” signals that Abu Dhabi may be coordinating with its Western allies, including the United States, on a potential counter-measure or a further tightening of regional security protocols.

As of Monday evening, emergency services in Fujairah continue to monitor the damage at the oil storage facilities, while the UAE military remains at its highest state of readiness.
