In a significant milestone for Kosovo’s defense capabilities, the Kosovo Security Force (KSF) announced on May 15, 2026, the successful completion of its first-ever Crowd Control and Intervention Course.

The specialized training program was designed to enhance the operational readiness of the Military Police (MP) in managing complex security scenarios and civil disturbances.

Key Training Components

The course introduced several specialized modules that had not previously been part of the standard Military Police curriculum. According to the KSF official statement, the training focused on:

  • Crowd Control and Management: Strategies for handling large-scale gatherings and maintaining public order.
  • Rapid Intervention: Tactics for quick response in high-pressure security environments.
  • Close Quarters Battle (CQB): Specialized combat techniques for operating and neutralizing threats within enclosed spaces.

International Cooperation: The Croatian Connection

The training was conducted in close collaboration with instructors from the Croatian Military Police. This partnership highlights the deepening defense ties between Pristina and Zagreb, as both nations work toward standardizing their military procedures with NATO requirements.

“This training marks an important step as we have integrated specialized modules for intervention, crowd control, and CQB for the first time,” the KSF statement read.

Intensive Theory and Practice

Participants underwent a rigorous program that balanced theoretical instruction with high-intensity practical drills. The simulations were designed to mirror real-world operational environments, ensuring that MP members are prepared for the “complex security challenges” of the modern era.

Towards NATO Standards

This course is viewed as a vital part of the KSF’s ongoing transformation into a professional army. By mastering crowd control and specialized urban combat, the Military Police are evolving into a multi-functional unit capable of supporting both domestic stability and international peacekeeping missions.

The KSF concluded the announcement by stating that these newly acquired skills ensure the Military Police remain a “ready and capable unit” to operate in diverse and challenging operational theaters.
