The Basic Court in Prishtina has sentenced suspended Kosovo Police Lieutenant Bojan Jevtić to six years in prison and a €2,000 fine following the approval of a negotiated plea agreement. Jevtić was convicted on charges of espionage and the unauthorized possession of weapons.

According to the verdict announced by Judge Kushtrim Shyti at the Special Department of the Basic Court, Jevtić received a six-year prison sentence for the criminal offense of “Espionage.” For the weapon charge, he was handed a €2,000 fine. The court subsequently merged the counts into a unified sentence of 6 years in prison and a €2,000 fine, factoring in his time already spent in pre-trial detention.

Leaking National Security Secrets to Serbia’s BIA

Jevtić, a long-serving police official who joined the force in 2002 and later rose to become a deputy commander and head of operations, was arrested by the Police Inspectorate of Kosovo (PIK) and the Kosovo Intelligence Agency (KIA) on July 17, 2025, at the Bela Zemlja border crossing.

The investigation revealed that over an extended period leading up to his arrest, Jevtić systematically collected and transmitted classified Kosovo Police and KIA documents to Serbia’s Security Intelligence Agency (BIA). The Special Prosecution (PSRK) noted that these leaked files contained highly sensitive information directly related to Kosovo’s national security and constitutional order, and their disclosure compromised the safety of local security personnel.

Intelligence tracking showed that Jevtić used encrypted communication platforms, including WhatsApp and Telegram, to feed data to a BIA handler operating under the codename “Ćira,” whom Jevtić had also met physically during several secret trips to Belgrade.

Judicial Measures and Permanent Bans

Special Prosecutor Bekim Kodraliu and defense attorney Miloš Nikolić both affirmed before the court that the plea agreement was entered into voluntarily and in full accordance with legal provisions.

Alongside the primary prison sentence, Judge Shyti ordered several supplementary measures:

  • Public Office Ban: Jevtić is strictly barred from exercising any public administration or public service functions for a period of 5 years, a restriction that will take effect immediately upon the completion of his prison sentence.
  • Asset Forfeiture: The court ordered the immediate destruction of the seized revolver. Furthermore, liquid assets confiscated during raids on his properties—amounting to 2 million Serbian dinars, €7,003, and 500 Swiss francs—were permanently forfeited as property acquired through criminal activity.

Jevtić will remain in custody until the judgment officially takes final legal form. Under Kosovo law, both parties retain the right to lodge an appeal within the next 30 days.
