During the protest taking place in Tirana in support of the Albanian language in North Macedonia, one of the students declared that they will not remain silent, emphasizing that the Albanian language is a legacy passed down through generations and that the issue has now become a national cause.

The student stressed that Albanians in North Macedonia are not seeking privileges, but equality and respect.

“They told us we were alone, that we would grow tired. They were wrong. Who spoke for you, who speaks for us — they stayed silent. When the day comes to choose between a political seat and the mother tongue, they choose the seat. We do not. We will not remain silent,” the student said.

“The Albanian language is our memory, the legacy left to us by generations who never bowed down. The language kept us alive while empires came and fell. It united us when others tried to divide us. And now they tell us we must ask permission to use it? Never. We have no positions to protect — we only have our language.”

He added that what began as a concern among law students has now evolved into a broader national issue.

“We are not asking for privileges, only equality and respect for what rightfully belongs to us. Today, we have only one message: we are one, and we will remain united — together in every challenge, in defense of our identity and language,” he stated.
