António Costa will visit the Western Balkans next week as part of a regional tour aimed at strengthening European Union engagement ahead of the upcoming EU–Western Balkans summit.
His tour will begin on Monday in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and conclude on Thursday in Montenegro.
The visit to Pristina is scheduled for Wednesday, June 3, where Costa is expected to meet acting President Albulena Haxhiu, acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti, as well as leaders of opposition parties in Kosovo.
The tour comes ahead of the EU–Western Balkans summit set for June 5 in Tivat, Montenegro, which is considered one of the most important annual political events for the region.
During the summit, leaders of all 27 EU member states are expected to urge Western Balkan countries to seize the current momentum in the enlargement process, strengthen the rule of law, and resolve outstanding disputes with neighboring states.
