🇪🇺 The European Union has reaffirmed its commitment to enlargement, describing it as one of the bloc’s greatest achievements and a long-term investment in Europe’s shared future.
According to a recent publication by the European Parliament, EU enlargement remains a merit-based process, with candidate and potential candidate countries assessed on their individual progress toward membership.
Among the countries highlighted is Kosovo, which submitted its application for EU membership in 2022, alongside Albania, a candidate country since 2014 that continues its accession negotiations. The Western Balkans remain central to the EU’s enlargement agenda.
The report also references other countries in the accession process, including Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia, as well as Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, and Turkey, all at different stages of EU integration.
EU institutions emphasize that continued reforms, democratic consolidation, and alignment with EU standards remain key conditions for further progress toward membership.
