The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has approved a new financing tranche worth nearly $690 million, or around €600 million, for Ukraine as part of its financial support program aimed at sustaining the country’s economy during wartime.
With this latest disbursement, the IMF’s total financial support for Kyiv so far has reached approximately $2.2 billion, out of an overall assistance package amounting to $8.1 billion.
The release of the funds was approved after the IMF completed its latest review of Ukraine’s reform program. Under the program, Ukrainian authorities have committed to maintaining economic stability and continuing reforms in key areas, including combating corruption, improving the tax system, and strengthening monetary policy.
According to the IMF’s assessment, Ukraine has managed to preserve macroeconomic and financial stability despite Russia’s ongoing aggression since February 2022 and continued attacks. The institution stated that the implementation of the program has produced positive results and has been considered broadly satisfactory.
IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva praised Ukraine’s resilience in facing the challenges caused by the war, emphasizing that maintaining macroeconomic stability remains a key priority for the country under these extraordinary circumstances.
