The Parliament of Albania approved on Monday a loan agreement worth $302 million (€258 million) with the United States of America, which will be used to finance military equipment.

The agreement was approved during the second plenary session held that day, following the first session at 10:00 a.m.

The Democratic Party did not participate in the vote, stating before the start of the session that its boycott was related to claims that the procedure violated the Parliament’s Rules of Procedure and the Constitution.

In addition to lawmakers from the Socialist Party, three deputies from the Social Democratic Party also participated in the session.

Before the vote, the session was interrupted again, after which lawmakers voted 74 votes in favor of holding the discussion on the agreement behind closed doors.
