Students involved in Serbia’s blockade movement have warned the public about several newly registered civic associations whose names appear to imitate the student electoral list, accusing authorities of potentially preparing to exploit state resources ahead of the elections.
The students announced on social media that several associations had recently been registered under names containing references to the student list, including:
- “Studentska lista Srbije – Studenti pobeđuju”
- “Studenti pobeđuju”
- “Studentska lista Beograda – Studenti pobeđuju”
The student movement said it suspects the registrations could be used to create confusion around the genuine student electoral list and potentially enable the authorities to submit competing lists using similar names.
“Given recent amendments to the law allowing one person to support multiple electoral lists with their signature, we have reasonable grounds to suspect that the regime will use state resources to submit fake lists bearing the name of the student list,” the students said in their statement.
They stressed that, in their view, there is only one legitimate student electoral list.
“And that is the Studentska lista – Studenti pobeđuju,” the movement said.
The warning comes as Serbia’s student movement prepares to participate in the upcoming parliamentary elections, marking a major shift from its months-long protest campaign toward direct political competition.
The students have previously said they intend to field their own electoral list while maintaining that the movement itself is not a conventional political party.
The latest warning reflects growing concerns within the student movement that political actors could attempt to appropriate its name, symbols or public support in order to confuse voters and weaken its electoral position.
