U.S. Congressman Joe Wilson has accused Russia of waging a “shadow war” against critical infrastructure around the world, alleging that Serbia is being used as a base for Russian terrorist operations.
In a statement posted on X, Wilson said Russia recruits, trains and shelters many of its terrorist operations in Serbia, linking the country’s role to Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić.
Wilson also said he is a co-sponsor of the Strategic Subsea Cable Act (SSCA), legislation aimed at countering Russian threats to critical global infrastructure, including vital underwater communications cables.
His remarks come amid growing concerns in Washington and Europe over Russian efforts to undermine critical infrastructure and conduct covert and destabilizing operations beyond its borders.
