The Speaker of the Kosovo Assembly, Albulena Haxhiu, reacted after the adoption of the declaration concerning the judgment of the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague against Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi.
Haxhiu said that the Kosovo Assembly had spoken “with one voice,” emphasizing that the war of the people of Kosovo for freedom and independence, through the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), was a just war.
“Our people’s war for freedom and independence, through the Kosovo Liberation Army, was a just war. It emerged as a response to Serbia’s repression and grave crimes, at a time when our people were being killed, expelled and persecuted from their own homes. This truth cannot be undone by any judgment,” Haxhiu declared.
According to her, Kosovo’s institutions must act united through a joint legal and diplomatic strategy, with the aim of protecting the truth about the war of the people of Kosovo.
Haxhiu stressed that the legal battle continues through the appeals process.
“We will stand together in this battle until the former KLA leaders are fully released,” she said.
