The German Embassy in Kosovo has shared a statement by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz following the Berlin Process Summit, reaffirming Germany’s support for the European integration of Kosovo and the other Western Balkan countries.
“The EU must expand,” Merz said, as Germany reiterated its support for the Western Balkans’ accession to the European Union during the summit held in Sveti Stefan, Montenegro.
“Germany remains committed to its unwavering support for Kosovo’s European integration,” the German Embassy stated.
The embassy also highlighted the tangible benefits of regional cooperation, including easier trade, mutual recognition of professional qualifications and more opportunities for young people.
Germany thanked Montenegro for hosting the summit and leading the Berlin Process, describing this year’s programme as the most inclusive to date.
The embassy also congratulated Austria, which is set to take over the presidency, with a focus on young people, reconciliation and regional cooperation.
