Residents participating in the Zemun Citizens’ Assembly entered the Zemun municipal building and removed portraits of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, according to Serbian news outlet Nova.rs.
The incident is part of a series of similar actions reported across Serbia following the parliamentary election victory of the student-backed “Students’ List.”
In several locations, citizens and public-sector employees have reportedly taken down portraits of Vučić and carried them out of government buildings.
The developments come amid a changing political climate following the election result, with the removal of the president’s portraits emerging as a visible expression of political dissatisfaction and demands for change in public institutions.
Nova.rs published a video of the incident in Zemun.
