Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti met on Thursday with Switzerland’s Foreign Minister and Chairperson-in-Office of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), Ignazio Cassis, and the delegation accompanying him.

During the meeting, Kurti expressed his gratitude for Switzerland’s continued support for the people and state of Kosovo, particularly in promoting development and democracy. He also thanked Switzerland for extending the mandate of the Swisscoy mission and increasing the ceiling for Swiss troop participation in the NATO-led Kosovo Force (KFOR).

“Building on the strong foundations of our relationship with Switzerland, established through the diaspora and the hospitality shown by Switzerland during difficult times for the Albanians of Kosovo, we are further developing and advancing our relations as a Republic. At the same time, we are expanding cooperation, which entered a new chapter last month with the entry into force of the EFTA agreement, opening new opportunities for free trade in both goods and services,” Kurti said.

The discussions also focused on ways to further strengthen cooperation between the two countries, both at the governmental and business levels, as well as Switzerland’s role in supporting Kosovo’s European integration processes.

Kurti and Cassis also discussed the importance of ensuring equal standards in OSCE reporting and strengthening Kosovo’s representation within the organization, highlighting Cassis’s role as its Chairperson-in-Office.

During the meeting, Cassis invited Kurti to attend the 10th European Political Community Summit, scheduled to take place in Zurich in April next year.

Kurti, in turn, said Cassis would be welcome to visit the House of Kosovo in Davos in January.
