The parliamentary group of Srpska Lista announced that its members will now be represented in all parliamentary committees of the Kosovo Assembly, following their appointment alongside representatives of other parliamentary groups.
The party said the appointments would allow its MPs to access the legislative process, participate in discussions and submit proposals, rights it claims had previously been denied to them.
“After several unsuccessful attempts, Srpska Lista MPs will, as of today, be represented in all parliamentary committees, enabling them to have access to and participate in the legislative process, as well as submit relevant proposals, which had previously been prevented,” the statement said.
The announcement was published on Instagram by Srpska Lista MP Igor Simić.
The party stressed that participation in parliamentary committees is a right belonging to MPs from all parliamentary groups, regardless of their political affiliation.
“However, through various manoeuvres, this right was denied for the first time to MPs of Srpska Lista, who are the legal and legitimate representatives of the Serbian people,” the statement added.
The Kosovo Assembly approved the replacement and reappointment of members of parliamentary committees during Thursday’s session, with 63 votes in favour, none against and one abstention.
The Vetëvendosje Movement had previously voted against appointing Srpska Lista representatives to the parliamentary committees during the three previous sessions in which the issue was on the agenda.
At the most recent session, the item was withdrawn from the agenda, with the explanation that changes would be made to the composition of the parliamentary committees.
The latest decision enables Srpska Lista MPs to participate in the work of all parliamentary committees and engage in the consideration and drafting of legislation.
