The Government of Kosovo has held an electronic meeting, approving the Draft Law on the Energy Regulatory Office and two initiatives to conclude financial agreements with international institutions.

According to a statement from the Government’s Media Office, the Draft Law on the Energy Regulatory Office defines the powers, duties and functions of the Energy Regulatory Office (ERO), including its legal status, internal organization and financing.

The proposed legislation also provides for monitoring the functioning of energy markets, issuing licenses and certifications in the sector, approving tariffs and tariff methodologies, and overseeing the implementation of relevant legislation.

During the same meeting, the government approved an initiative to conclude a Grant Agreement between Kosovo, the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) and the International Development Association (IDA), acting jointly as administrators of the European Commission. The agreement concerns the Kosovo Energy Efficiency Fund Project.

The government also approved an initiative to conclude a Loan Agreement between Kosovo and the French Development Agency (AFD) to finance the construction of a wastewater treatment plant in Pristina.
