The government increases pensions by 20 percent, with changes effective this month for pensioners and for war categories starting January 2025.

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, announced at a press conference that a decision has been made to increase pensions by 20 percent.

Pensions will increase starting this October, while for war categories, the increase will begin in January 2025.

“Beginning in October 2024, we will raise all pensions by 20 percent as follows: basic old-age pension, full and partial contributory pensions, disability pensions for children and adults, pensions for the blind, pensions for paraplegics and tetraplegics, family pensions, work invalidity pensions, and early pensions for Trepča workers. Additionally, starting in January 2025, pensions defined by the law for war categories will be increased by 20 percent, specifically for the families of martyrs, the disabled, veterans, members of the KLA, victims of wartime sexual violence, civilian victims, and their families,” said Kurti.
