After it became clear that Donald Trump is heading to the White House as the 47th President of the United States, and following the confirmation of a Republican majority in the U.S. Senate, the battle continues for the House of Representatives.
According to the latest tally, the Republican Party holds 200 seats in the House of Representatives, while the Democrats have 171.
A majority in the House requires 218 representatives.
Unlike the Senate, in the House of Representatives, all 435 seats are up for election in this cycle, and the results will likely take much longer to be determined compared to the Senate and Presidential elections.
Currently, the House of Representatives has a Republican majority, and Democrats hope to shift the balance in several key states.
What is known so far is that Republicans have managed to flip four House seats to their advantage, which is certainly a surprise.
CNN projects that Democrat John Mannion will defeat Republican Brandon Williams in their race for a House seat in New York, reclaiming the district for Democrats two years after Williams’ victory.
Additionally, Republican Rob Bresnahan Jr. is expected to unseat Democratic Congressman Matt Cartwright in Pennsylvania’s 8th District.
