President-elect Donald Trump has expressed opposition to U.S. involvement in the ongoing conflict in Syria, urging the current administration to avoid taking action in the war-torn country.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump stated that the United States should not be involved in the Syrian civil war, which has seen significant opposition forces pushing for regime change.

“Opposition fighters in Syria, in an unprecedented move, have taken control of multiple cities in a highly coordinated offensive, and are now on the outskirts of Damascus, clearly preparing for a major push to topple Assad,” Trump wrote.

However, he emphasized that, despite the ongoing turmoil in Syria, the country is not a U.S. ally, and Washington should refrain from getting involved in the conflict. “Syria is a mess, but it’s not our friend, and the United States should have nothing to do with it. This is not our war. Don’t get involved,” he added.

Trump’s comments come as the Syrian conflict continues to destabilize the region, with ongoing battles between government forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad and various opposition groups. The U.S. has been involved in Syria in the past, particularly in the fight against ISIS, but Trump’s statement reflects his broader “America First” foreign policy stance, which calls for reducing U.S. military entanglements abroad.

As Trump prepares to take office in January, his position on Syria underscores his commitment to distancing the U.S. from conflicts that he believes do not serve the nation’s interests directly. His stance also contrasts with some of the policies of the outgoing administration, which has been more active in supporting opposition forces and maintaining a presence in the region.
