Miroslav Lajčak, the European Union’s Special Representative for the Kosovo-Serbia Dialogue, shared the main topics discussed in his recent meeting with Kosovo’s Besnik Bislimi and Serbia’s Petar Petković. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Lajčak expressed satisfaction with the agreement to establish a joint commission for missing persons, highlighting that normalizing relations between Kosovo and Serbia is essential for their EU integration, with no separation between the two processes.
Lajčak outlined several key issues that need to be addressed to implement the Ohrid Agreement, in line with the conclusions of the 2024 European Council. These include de-escalation, responsibility for the 2023 attacks, the reintegration of Kosovo Serbs, the establishment of the Association of Serbian Majority Municipalities, and the recognition of Kosovo’s documents and symbols.
These issues are central to the ongoing dialogue and are seen as crucial steps toward improving relations and advancing both countries’ paths toward EU membership.
