The detention of three Montenegrin citizens, arrested on November 24 for inciting division and intolerance, has been extended. The case has been referred to the Special Department of the Basic Court in Pristina.
According to the Basic Court of Pristina, the Special Prosecution proposed the extension of detention for one month for each defendant. The court supported this decision, citing Article 184, paragraph 1, sub-paragraphs 1.1 and 1.2, point 1.2.1 of the Kosovo Code of Criminal Procedure.
The individuals were arrested after driving through the center of Deçan with license plates reading “Kosovo is Serbia” in Serbian. Additionally, two of the accused reportedly used hate speech during police questioning.
The case has sparked political debate in Montenegro, where pro-Serbian parties in parliament have called for their release. They also appealed to Albanian MP Ilir Çapuni to influence Kosovar institutions to facilitate their release.
This development highlights the ongoing tensions surrounding national identity and sovereignty in the region.
