Kosovo Officially Launches Campaign for February 9 Parliamentary Elections

The official campaign for Kosovo’s parliamentary elections, scheduled for February 9, begins today at 12:00.

Yesterday marked the conclusion of the eighth legislature of the Assembly of Kosovo. According to the law, regular elections for the Assembly must occur no later than 30 days before the end of its mandate.

Key Election Details

The Central Election Commission (CEC) has confirmed that 2,075,868 eligible voters, both within and outside Kosovo, will have the opportunity to cast their votes. Voters will choose from 28 certified political entities and 1,280 candidates competing for 120 seats in the Assembly of Kosovo.

Political Parties Kick Off Campaigns

Several major political parties will officially launch their campaigns today:

  • Self-determination Movement (Lëvizja Vetëvendosje): Opening event at “Shani Nushi” Hall in Gjakova at 18:00.
  • Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK): Launching at “1 Tetori” Hall in Pristina at 16:30.
  • Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK): Starting at the Palace of Youth in Pristina at 17:00.
  • Coalition AAK-Nisma-Konservatorët-Forumi Intelektual E-30 and Lista Ideal: Paying tribute at the Jashari family memorial in Prekaz at 10:45.

Voting for Diaspora Began January 9

The voting process for citizens living abroad via postal ballots commenced on January 9.

As political parties officially begin their campaigns, the election promises to be a pivotal moment in shaping Kosovo’s future.
