During a visit to the KFOR headquarters in Pristina, the President of Albania, Bajram Begaj, met with the commander of the mission, Major General Enrico Barduani, and Albanian personnel serving there.
President Begaj discussed the security challenges Kosovo faces, particularly in the context of developments in the northern part of the country and the entire region. He expressed gratitude to Major General Barduani for his contributions and extended his thanks to Italy for having the largest number of troops in Kosovo.
Begaj emphasized the necessity of KFOR’s presence in maintaining peace and security in Kosovo, and commended the key role the mission has played not only for Kosovo but also for stability in the Balkans.
Furthermore, the President of Albania expressed unwavering support for NATO and KFOR’s mission, describing it as a “success story” and reaffirming Albania’s willingness to increase troop numbers if necessary.
Albania contributes the largest number of personnel to KFOR’s international missions abroad. During his meeting with the Albanian soldiers, President Begaj, in his role as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, praised their commitment to service, recognizing their crucial contribution to NATO and the peace and security efforts in Kosovo. He emphasized that their participation in KFOR serves the peace, security, and well-being of Kosovo, which remains a top priority for Albania.
Begaj also appreciated the legal improvements, highlighting the growing attention and support for the Armed Forces from the institutions, as reported by A2.
“You represent the best part of the Albanian state because you make us proud with your actions, commitment, sense of responsibility, and contribution,” Begaj stated during the meeting, accompanied by the Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant General Arben Kingji, and the Ambassador of Albania to the Republic of Kosovo, Petrit Malaj.
