The United States has suspended immigration applications from migrants coming from Ukraine and Latin America under several programs initiated during the presidency of Joe Biden, according to CBS News.
The decision was made due to concerns over fraud and security, as reported by BBC, citing two American officials and an internal document.
Approximately 240,000 Ukrainians were welcomed into the United States as part of Biden’s “Uniting for Ukraine” policy. Many of them have submitted applications that would allow them to stay legally in the US or even settle permanently, according to the American network.
The suspension of the application process will remain in effect while officials review the vetting procedures, the report further states.
