Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani has expressed her condolences following the death of American diplomat and great friend of Kosovo, Frank G. Wisner, who passed away today at the age of 86.
In a condolence telegram, Osmani highly valued Wisner’s contribution to American diplomacy, particularly his role as an emissary in the negotiations on Kosovo’s status, emphasizing that his dedication would be remembered with eternal gratitude and respect.
“Mr. Wisner was a man dedicated to peace and stability, acting with wisdom and integrity in crucial moments of international diplomacy. His contributions to global issues, as well as his commitment to Kosovo, will be remembered with eternal gratitude and respect,” the statement from the Presidency reads.
Osmani also shared a personal moment, recalling that she had the honor of working closely with Wisner for many years and that she last spoke with him just a few months ago to offer her support in his health battle.
“His memory and legacy will always remain part of our history. May the memory of the diplomat and friend of Kosovo, Frank G. Wisner, be eternal!” concludes Osmani’s message.
Frank G. Wisner was one of America’s most renowned diplomats, with a long career in service to U.S. foreign policy. He held significant positions, including that of Ambassador, and played a vital role in the diplomatic efforts for Kosovo’s future.
