Hundreds of citizens gathered in front of the Kosovo Government building today to protest against the rising cost of electricity, as previously announced by organizers.
One of the protest organizers stressed that the people of Kosovo should not have to pay even a cent more for basic services.
“Today’s turnout shows that when collective interest is at stake, we know how to unite and raise our voices for the common good,” the organizer said. “Our demands have been clear from the start, and they are supported by citizens across the republic. No citizen of Kosovo deserves to pay extra taxes, especially at a time when we are already facing new waves of price increases in goods and services.”
Highlighting Kosovo’s economic hardship, the organizer added:
“Considering that we are the poorest people in Europe, it is unacceptable to further burden the lives of citizens.”
The protest comes amid growing public dissatisfaction with rising living costs and a looming wave of new price hikes in essential sectors.
