Kosovo’s Security Council convened today at the request of Prime Minister Albin Kurti to discuss the current security situation, focusing on Serbia’s destabilizing actions and criminal interference.

During the meeting, it was reported that on April 1st, the Kosovo Post office in Zveçan was attacked with two hand grenades, one of which exploded. The office has since been repaired and services resumed. In addition, four Serbian nationals, including a Serbian police officer and an army captain, were arrested in Gjakova, with a significant amount of material confiscated from them. The government urged all institutions and security mechanisms to remain vigilant.

The discussion also touched on Serbia’s interference in Kosovo’s February 9th parliamentary elections, through the Serbian List and Milan Radoiçic, a known criminal figure. It was emphasized that Serbia is currently trying to sabotage the formation of Kosovo’s new institutions by threatening and bribing members of Kosovo’s minority and non-Serb communities, with the aim of destabilizing the country. Kosovo also faces pressure from Serbia to attend a gathering in Belgrade by Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić next week.

The government condemned these actions as flagrant interference in Kosovo’s sovereignty and democratic functioning.
