The Government of Kosovo has today approved, via an electronic meeting, the request of the Ministry of Defense to send a contingent of the Kosovo Security Force (KSF) to Albania to participate in a humanitarian search-and-rescue operation.

The decision was announced by the Acting Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, who clarified that the KSF contingent will assist Albanian authorities in the “Qafa e Burrelit” area, in the Municipality of Klos, where a massive landslide occurred in recent days at a factory processing chrome.

The incident resulted in the disappearance of a worker, who is suspected to have been buried by the earth while working at the company operating in the mining area.

“The Ministry of Defense is prepared to support Albania with a contingent for the humanitarian search-and-rescue operation,” Kurti wrote in a social media post.

He added that Kosovo always stands by Albania and is ready to assist in this operation.
