President of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, during a press conference following her visit to Switzerland’s Federal Palace, stated that the significance of this official visit is profound.
Osmani emphasized that the Kosovar diaspora in Switzerland stands as the clearest expression of gratitude, while highlighting Switzerland’s longstanding support for Kosovo during both difficult times and in the present.
“This grand welcome in the square of Bern made this state visit even more meaningful. Since state visits are rare, the fact that it’s taking place here in Switzerland speaks volumes about Switzerland’s commitment to our partnership. The many citizens gathered here—mostly members of our diaspora—are the best testament to that gratitude. Switzerland stood by us then, and continues to do so today, as we work toward building a safer and more stable future for all our citizens,” Osmani said.
She underlined that Kosovo and Switzerland share fundamental values such as freedom, democracy, and solidarity among people.
Furthermore, Osmani reiterated that Kosovo needs strong friends in its efforts to join international organizations.
On her part, Swiss President Karin Keller-Sutter affirmed that Switzerland supports Kosovo’s aspirations for full membership in the European Union.
