Former Deputy Chairman of the KLA War Veterans Organization (OVL-UÇK), Nasim Haradinaj, has publicly called on Vetëvendosje (VV) and the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) to set aside their differences and work together for the greater good of Kosovo.
In a Facebook post, Haradinaj emphasized that Kosovo is facing the deepest institutional crisis in its recent history, yet political parties are treating each other as sworn enemies rather than partners in resolving the stalemate.
“The Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) and Kosovo are more important than any political party,” Haradinaj wrote.
He urged VV and PDK to take example from the former KLA leaders currently on trial in The Hague, whom he described as united in the face of a political process.
“They’ve never been more united. Meanwhile, here in Kosovo, politicians are playing games. Salaries, SUVs, benefits – all are in order. But work? None. The KLA doesn’t have time to wait.”
Haradinaj stressed that now is the time for action, warning that popular frustration may soon engulf both the Parliament and the institutions, just as criticism surrounds the Hague-based Specialist Chambers.
“We must follow their example. VV and PDK must remove the mental barriers between them. The KLA and Kosovo are more important than you. Those held in The Hague are more important than you. If we want a fair and impartial trial, now is the time to act. Otherwise, the people’s anger will sweep you away too. Kosovo will not tolerate this any longer!”
