Two people were killed and nine others including three teenagers were injured in a mass shooting in Fairmount Park, Philadelphia during Memorial Day, police confirmed on Tuesday.

According to Reuters, the victims include a man and a woman, both adults, who died from their injuries. The remaining nine wounded individuals are in stable condition, police said.

“We have not recovered any weapons at this time. No arrests have been made,” the police statement noted. “This is significant. It’s Memorial Day… We understand the importance of this day and will provide updates as soon as possible.”

The shooting occurred on Monday evening during what is typically a solemn holiday honoring U.S. military personnel who lost their lives in service. Memorial Day is observed on the last Monday of May and is a federal holiday in the United States.
