– Colombian Senator Miguel Uribe Turbay, a potential candidate in the country’s presidential elections next year, was shot in the head at a campaign rally in Bogota on Saturday, authorities confirmed.
His conservative party, the Democratic Center, issued a statement calling the attack “an unacceptable act of violence,” AP reports.
The Attorney General’s Office, which is investigating the shooting, stated that the senator sustained two wounds, and two other individuals were also injured during the attack. The office’s statement confirmed that a 15-year-old boy was arrested at the scene.
