Prishtina, Kosovo – June 9, 2025 – Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti asserts that institutional and professional coordination, along with operational interaction between intelligence, security, and justice bodies, have significantly improved national security.
In a Facebook post, Kurti stated that as a result of the measures and actions taken, security has been continuously strengthened over the past few years, especially in the four northern municipalities where security problems were more pronounced.
“The security situation in the north has been severe due to Serbia’s influence and role, but also the measures of the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo in the past which were asymmetrical with the level of threat,” he wrote.
According to him, northern Kosovo, which was once a region with the presence not only of Serbian terrorists and criminals but also one of the most pro-Russian locations, has now been significantly stabilized. The stabilization of the situation in this part has positively influenced not only the general security of the Republic of Kosovo but also regional security.
Kurti further elaborated: “The progress over the years in reducing Serbia’s influence, improving the security situation in the four northern municipalities, guaranteeing free movement, business operations, and strengthening the rule of law there, have contributed to a safer environment, not only in the four northern municipalities but also in other Serb-majority settlements.”
